I’m Going to California!

I am so excited to share with you guys that I am going to California in 3 weeks! It is a very unexpected and last minute trip, but it is happening. Why am I going to California? What am I going to be doing? Whose coming with me? So many questions to answer and, lucky for you, they’ll all be answered today!

Why Am I Going?

If you read my last post, 10 Goals for May, then you would know that one of my goals was to plan something for my boyfriends birthday. We tossed around a couple of ideas and one of them happened to be horse riding. Unfortunately the season for that ended. We live in Arizona and it gets too hot for the horses after a certain time. I figured we could look into horse riding in Flagstaff, the colder part of Arizona, and travel there. But once I thought the word “travel” I became fixated on the idea of going to somewhere better….California!

Who is Going With Me?

My boyfriend of course! My best friend Reanna and her boyfriend were going to come along, but the timing wasn’t right. However, I am super stoked to spend the weekend with my boo. He hasn’t ever been to California so I know he will really enjoy this experience.

How Are We Getting There?

It’s time for a ROAD TRIP. California is only about 5 hours away so it seems like a waste to fly out there. A round trip flight costs about $400 for both of us to fly round trip. We would also have to travel via bus or pay for Uber/Lyft. I’m budgeting that we will spend around $120 round trip and that includes any driving we do while we are there as well. That’s much better!

Where Are We Staying?

When I looked into hotels in California…WOW. Talk about pricey. It was going to cost around $500 for us to stay two nights, minimum. Yes, you heard me right, only two nights at the lowest cost. I was definitely not on board, especially considering we would only have a bed, shower and a TV. Instead of a hotel we decided to opt for an Airbnb. In total it will cost around $330. Here’s what it will look like:

I especially love this place because of the little amenities it has. My boyfriend and I always play pool, so in our down time we will still have something to do. We also have a kitchen! We are planning to eat in at some point, ideally for breakfast or even lunch. It is such a cozy spot and I’ll update on how it looks in person as well!

Activities

I have a couple things that we can choose from but we haven’t set any kind of itinerary just yet. Saturday is going to be the main day we have to do stuff, especially since we are driving there Friday and driving home Sunday. Here are some of the things we could possibly do:

1-Hour Hollywood Trolley Tour or Hop on Hop Off Tour

OUE Skyspace

Venice – Beach & Boardwalk

Santa Monica Pier – Pacific Park & Aquarium

Food & Drinks

Honestly, we have no idea. I have looked into some places to eat but we will most likely just try new spots that are around us at a given time. I’m also thinking that we will want to go out on either Friday or Saturday night, so finding good places to drink would be great. I’m definitely open to trying places in Los Angeles, Santa Monica or Venice…so recommend one in the comments if you have been to any!

I can’t wait to go and share our experiences with you all. I’m thinking of doing a vlog about it but I don’t really know too much about that kind of stuff just yet. We will see, wish us luck!
